Address:                      Teterboro Airport, NJ
Architect:                    Schenkel Shultz

The challenge

Completely remodel the lobby and conference room of a busy private jet airport terminal that was to remain open and always functioning throughout the process.  Needed to maintain passenger safety, dust free environment, reduced noise levels, and strict adherence to the aggressive schedule.

The result

Using prefabricated temporary wall sections that we designed and built offsite we were able to phase the project and alter the work zones quickly and efficiently to keep up production while maintain strict adherence to the program requirements.

  • All work was performed and inspected according to stringent regulations by the Port Authority of NY & NJ
  • Removed and replaced ceramic tile flooring and carpeting
  • Reconfigured the layout of the food service area
  • Fabricated/installed custom millwork
  • Provided various mechanical, electrical, and plumbing alterations
  • Painted all new and existing walls including a 20-foot-high ceiling
  • Executed the work without any disruption to critical flight services by means of moveable temporary walls

This project was a bit complex in that the FBO (fixed-base operator) had to remain open on a 24/7 basis while the remodeling was being completed. This meant that some of the work had to be performed at low traffic times for Signature and typically this was late night & early morning. Heuer worked with us on this and the result was that the work did not negatively impact the operation of the base. A very important factor was that Heuer’s personnel including the project manager, superintendent, and subcontractors were all extremely cognizant of Signature’s commitment to customer service and this was apparent every day in the work they did.
